Thomas's Story
Thomas is an energetic, curious, and lively 11-year-old boy.
He has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and bilateral hearing loss, for which he wears hearing aids.
Thomas experiences sensory processing differences, emotional and behavioural challenges, and communication difficulties when distressed.
He enjoys cars, machinery, planes, and tractors. Thomas benefits from advance notice of transitions, a predictable schedule, and visual supports provided by Blisscare Support Services. We provide clear, step-by-step instructions.
Strength: Highly curious
Diagnoses and considerations: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), bilateral hearing loss, sensory processing differences, and a history of adverse developmental experiences, with trauma-informed considerations.
- Encourage gross motor activities, as Thomas enjoys them.
- Encourage self-care activities and support the development of his communication skills.
- Use a clear, calm, and neutral tone of voice when communicating about transitions.
At Blisscare, we understand that Thomas benefits from structured choices during his daily activities. Providing opportunities to make choices can help build his self-confidence and capacity for self-regulation.
Mohan’s Story
My name is Mohan. I’m 49 years old and have C5 Tetraplegia, following a car accident in 2010. I continue to receive bed-based care and am completely dependent for activities of daily living.
I have a neurogenic bladder and autonomic dysreflexia, which require care and support.
I met Peace from Blisscare. With over twenty-five years of nursing experience, my mum, a retired registered nurse and my primary care supervisor, was happy with my decision to work with them. This has turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made, as my frequent hospital visits have decreased.
Mohan was diagnosed with quadriplegia, neuropathic pain, perianal hematoma, and autonomic dysreflexia.
Mohan’s complex needs required nursing care, with experienced support workers who are well trained to observe, recognise, and respond immediately to Mohan’s emergency needs either at home or in the community.
Mohan is cognitively intact. He knows His Life. His Voice. Our Care.
Supporting your choices. Respecting your dignity. Connecting your care.
